JUNE BIRTHSTONES
Last June we talked about pearls and alexandrites. Everyone who stopped by saw for themselves just how beautiful and precious June’s two birthstones truly are.

This year, we want to focus on what’s equally important: caring for them. Both pearls and alexandrite are investments that can last a lifetime, but only with the proper care. Since each gemstone has different properties and unique needs, here’s how to keep them looking their best for years to come.
Pearls are delicate, soft, and porous, so they must be handled with extra care. We recommend storing them separately from other jewelry and cleaning them only with mild soap and water and a damp cloth. Never use harsh chemicals on pearls, including perfume. If you wear fragrance, be sure to spray it before putting on your pearls to prevent damage.
Alexandrites, on the other hand, are much more durable. This tough gemstone can handle daily wear and can be cleaned with warm, soapy water and a soft-bristled brush. Pat them dry with a soft cloth and store them separately as well, since they are quite hard and can scratch other jewelry. We recommend avoiding ultrasonic cleaners, as they can sometimes worsen small blemishes.
Don’t worry if this sounds like too much.
Both Johnson Jewelers showrooms offer professional cleaning services for all types of jewelry – new or old. Our experienced team can remove years of wear and tear from rings, necklaces, bracelets, and more. Call us today for pricing or to answer any questions!

STAFF FAVORITES
This month, Jodi, “Manager and Facilitator” of our Woodbury showroom, is showing off her impeccable style and taste.
She loves this gorgeous marquise diamond ring, the same style that King Louis XV commissioned to commemorate his mistress’s lips in 18th-century France (at least that’s what AI said.)
She tells us, “I chose this piece because the marquise shape reminds me of my engagement and marriage in the early 90’s. I don’t recall talking much about diamonds or their shape back then, but my husband must have been paying attention as he surprised me with a marquise engagement ring. After 33 years, I still enjoy wearing the ring. Marquise diamonds are once again making waves and gaining attention, and this 3.08ct lab marquise diamond ring is a beauty!”
